CBT (Compulsory Basic Training)
A valid CBT certificate is a legal requirement on the Isle of Man and must be obtained before you can legally ride on the road without an accredited instructor present.

CBT Renewal
A CBT remains valid for two years, after which time you will need to renew your CBT course if you are still a learner rider. A CBT renewal is valid for those with a current valid CBT certificate or one that has expired not more than 2 years. During this course you will cover manoeuvres similar to that on an initial CBT.

Took my CBT with Matt this month and he’s a brilliant instructor. I wasn’t feeling too confident going into it as the weather wasn’t great, but from the get-go Matt made me feel at ease by being incredibly supportive, encouraging and providing clear instructions.
