Try-A-Ride / CBT Practice Session

Thank you for booking with RideSafe.im! You have successfully booked your session, please carefully read the joining instructions below as there is important information on what you need to wear, bring with you and where you are meeting your instructor.

Try-A-Ride Session — These sessions are designed to give someone their very first go on a motorcycle. They can also be used to build competence prior to booking a CBT course. These sessions are an hour in duration.

Where to meet?

All of our Try-A-Ride sessions are held from the CBT training site at Port Soderick.

What to bring

  • You need to wear:

    • A helmet which complies with BS 6658:1985 or ECE22.05. Helmets are available for hire if required.
    • A jacket which should ideally be warm, waterproof and provide good abrasion protection.
    • Good quality leather (or strong material) gloves. These should cover and extend above the wrist.
    • A pair of sturdy boots which cover the ankles, and which provide good grip.
    • Tough jeans or trousers – no shorts, lightweight materials or skinny fit trousers which may ride up and expose the lower leg.
  • Additional requirements:

    • Riders must be at least 16 years of age.
    • A valid provisional licence is not essential for these sessions.

What to expect

During these sessions you will cover the basics of a motorcycle, its controls and some practical riding. Depending on competence you will cover the as many of the Element B section on a CBT as you competently can in the given time. Everyone learns at different rates and each session is individually tailored to that students needs.
